Awoke to a good breeze and clear blue sky which was bad news for Mag as she was signed up for her RYA level 1 dinghy course and the wind was going to make things abit difficult, but it was good news for me !!!So after breakfast which included making rolls for lunch,Mag started at 10 and I was on the water by 10.30.Rig and board size choice is a nightmare in the cross off shore winds and with nobody else out I took a chance on a Tushingham Thunderbird 8m on a Starboard Go 133 as the biggest carve they had was 121 and you had to wobble out past the island to find the best wind. I had some really long reaches well powered up for most of the time making it 3/4s of the way to Datca, well outside the sailing zone but the rescue boats were busy with catsized dinghys. It was during this 2hr session that I saw whole 'flocks' of flying fish and they were amazing-actually flying for 40/50 metres at a time across the wave tops !!! Back for lunch on the beach with Mag who was enjoying a well earned rest from her hectic topaz sailing. With the wind looking to be building a little I tried a carve 121 with a T/T 7m (altougth the board had seen better days with loads of big repairs) I had some brilliant reaches heading far out towards Greece but the wind was very up and down and would have been better off with bigger kit.I then put my foot through the repair and the board started to crack right across just in front of the footstraps.I had a job to get back in then discovered why when I made it to the beach as the board was full of water and weighed a ton !!!!as there was no foam in the repair !!!I then watched Mag out in a Omega with 3 other learners and the instructor each taking turns on the helm with the sail reefed right down.So a great 3hrs 37 mins out and have had more windsurfing in 2 days than I was expecting all week !!!
